Although our Heidi is already eighteen years old, she is still quite inexperienced. An orphan from the Swiss mountains, Heidi has until now been raised by her Aunt Dete. Now, however, Dete is taking a job in distant Frankfurt. Consequently, she takes Heidi to live with her grandfather—"Alpöhi"—who resides high up in the mountains.
